Before coming to Argentina, I would have liked to know if Spanish Spanish was going to be helpful. I knew a little Spanish, but I was told in Argentina people use "vos", that verbs are conjugated differently, etc. At the very beginning it was hard to understand what people were saying because of their accent, so it was hard to figure out some words. In addition, there are differences in the choice/use of verbs. However, I think that knowing Spanish from Spain helped me because it gave me a basic knowledge of the language.
I've been living here for eight months now, so I've already been to Iguazú, Salta, Mendoza,... If you ever come to Argentina, I recommend visiting Iguazú. You can take a tour on the water and see the waterfalls from below... That was very exciting. Almost everyone who had been to Iguazú told me that it was going to be the most exciting place ever. It would be the best trip to tourists who enjoy nature and going on adventures. It is also very interesting because you get to know another province, so you meet different people, see different styles of architecture and listen to different dialects.
In Argentina, there are many communities from Italy, France, Germany, Japan, etc. So you can get to know their culture (traditional dances and food). You should also try Argentinian food, like asado, mate, chorizo,... They're all delicious! You can easily find them at the supermarket, so it's worth trying them.
I will stop writing here, but there are definitely a lot of things more that I got to know and understood once I arrived in Argentina.
